Week 10: Home Automation - August 11, 2001
Home Automation The majority of people have heard the term Home Automation, but don't understand what benefits can come from having an automated house. Other people think that home automation is just the controlling of lights, while its true that control of lights throughout the house is a big part of home automation, its not the only benefit of an automated home. The following items are just some examples of what can be automated: HVAC, Pool or Spa, Water Heaters, Window Blinds and Drapes, Sprinklers, Cameras, Security Systems, Audio/Video Systems, and Home Theaters. Home Automation is available for everyone from a new homebuilder to someone in a 10+ year old home, even to an apartment resident to some extent. While its true that some features of home automation have to pre-wired for in a new home, most are capable of being retro-installed into existing homes. If one is currently living in an apartment, please check your lease and with your landlord before adding any home automation. The majority of the automation products are just as easily put back to original, as they are to retro-install. All these features sound nice, but they also sound expensive huh? Home automation is more affordable then most people think. It's also a very scaleable project. One can start out by automating the most commonly used items, and over time add the additional features that they want. For more information on home automation contact us at: Home Theater Design Group 972-250-3440 or email us at: info@h-t-d.com. |
